Poison Baby Milk Affect Singapore?

The hottest China milk poisoning issue has brought to the high attention of all parents. Researchers said the culprit was melamine, a chemical which Chinese manufacturers added to milk and infant formula in order to make it appear that the milk had higher protein content. The use of the chemical melamine in food production is banned the world over.  Thousands of concerned parents have been rushing their babies to hospitals in China.

I feel that this poisoned milk scandal is a very heart-pained one. 3 infants have been killed by the powder while 158 are fighting acute kidney failure. When I saw the pictures of sick children receives treatment for kidney stones after consuming tainted milk formula, I’m very pity about those children and I know how their parents feelings. I feel blessing also because the milk formula in Singapore are always safe to consume.

Milk recall: A Chinese woman takes care of her child hospitalised after drinking contaminated milk powder in Wuhan, central China’s Hubei province

In Singapore, Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) said in a statement that its tests found melamine in two samples of Yili brand iced yoghurt. AVA also found the chemical in the Dutch Lady brand of strawberry flavoured milk manufactured in China. They later removed those products from market shelves and destroyed them. The import and sale of all milk and milk products from China has also immediately been suspended.

People lost confident to products with the “made in China” label and from now on, I think I will be more careful when choosing products for my Baby Moon.

sort of proves the old chinese saying “?????”. i heard on the radio that laptops with parts made in china also have poisonous components. Casewas that a laptop bought from a well known company had this smell of burning when the person was using it. Then he powered down the laptop and the smell still continued so he requested for an exchange. The new laptop that came still had the smell so he sent it for lab tests and found out the gases released contained a chemical that is cancer causing… so becareful……

opps sorry… didn’t know that comments do not allow chinese. what i wanted to say was “nothing good comes from cheapness” or something similiar to that

    Wenrong,
I will check it out about the writing of chinese words because I believe blog allows to write in chinese.
Is that real that the laptop case? I never heard about that but now really got no confident about “made in China” label. =)

  4. Wenrong Says:

no idea abt the case but i reckon its true as they dare to say it on air on the radio channel…the person was a chemical researcher so he managed to get it to the lab to get the smell tested

Since that, I believe their economy is seriously been affected and move backwards for at least 3 to 4 years. Which country will dare to import “made in China” products?

  6. Paul Says:

    Better breast feeding ^^

  7. babymoon Says:

    Hi Paul,
Glad to see you here! You are right, better breast feeding, but breast feeding can’t last for years and the milk powder still needed. Like working mother, is very difficult to breast feed.. =)

  8. Wenrong Says:

nowdays “made in china” labels = epidemic singapore banned all made in china foodstuff i believe. i think it will be hard for china foodstuffs to make it back to the “frontlines” even if the issues now are stopped. Trust when lost is hard to be found back.

  9. Babynme Says:

Breastfeed is definitely the best. Like Moon said, can’t breastfeed all time especially for working mothers. We are still feeding our Ryan with breastmilk when he is not with the baby sitter. My wife expresses the milk and stores them in the freezer. You should look at my freezer now. Besides the ice box, it is just breast milk and we are running out of space. I always tease my wife that we should start marketing them online if Ryan can’t finish. And add in some flavour like `Flavour of the month’ thingy.

But seriously, I’m so angry that people can go to the extend of adding poison to infant milk powder just to make a few extra dollars. Pitiful. What is the world coming to?

  10. babymoon Says:

    Hi Rodney,
You better keep those breast milk for your son because they are so valuable now.. Haa.. That day I read a news that a guy in China marketed the breast milk online but he said something “rude” so he got banned and critized by others. Aii…
I’m not only angry but also shame of them (THEY ARE CHINESE!) Aiii..

  11. Babynme Says:

Yeah. I’m totally ashamed of them too to think that we are Chinese as well. They always said that Chinese people are cunning businessmen and difficult to deal with. But to think that they will go as low as this is. Never really have a good impression on Chinese products. Have read too many articles of how they made their products. I remembered once reading about them recycling disposable chop sticks and even condom (if I remember right). YUCKS!!! I am not sure how `clean’ are other products that are from China. Things like their oyster sauce, dried shrimps etc. Will have to cut down eating these items but the problem is that there are so many products we consumed or used today are from China, directly or indirectly. So how??

  12. babymoon Says:

Many investors shift or move their production factories to China to lower the production costs. The thing is there must be a very strict control over the quality, otherwise..
The furniture made there also got problems.. children get rashes over their body..
Something wrong with their MINDSET.. I’m not against China but those businessmen with no business etiquette and moral.

  13. Babynme Says:

Another product tested positive with melamine in Malaysia. Taro brand of biscuits from Bai Rong. Health Ministry already directed all these products be withdrawn from shelves. I believe whatever that we are seeing is like the tip of an iceberg covering more brands and type of products. I heard that even imported vegetables from China were not spared. Apparently, our government still testing to determine whether they are safe. So I guess, I better move back to my kampung, rear my own chickens and fish, plant my own kangkong and choy sum. Sweat!!!!

  14. babymoon Says:

move back to kampung.. haaa.. where is your kampung? maybe i pay you a visit, taste your home made dishes. =)

  15. Wenrong Says:

coupled with the economic recession, let’s all go back to the kampung days self reared poultry are always the best cos you are sure you wun poison yourself!

  16. babymoon Says:

wenrong, m’sia still can find kampung but sg.. where got kampung nowadays? Or you wanna back your father’s kampung? Haa..

  17. Wenrong Says:

haha m’sia still have but slowly all converting to cemented buildings also already…my big aunt just moved from a kampung into a pvt housing in ipoh too i believe
